HRDA is now Anchor City Rollers!

Roller derby is here to stay in Halifax, we're rolling out some exciting new changes to mark our fourth season.

Our new name pays homage to the history of Halifax, which has been a central port for North America for hundreds of years. What better way to recognize the sheer volume of anchors that have dropped in one of the world’s deepest harbours?

You've known us as “Halifax Roller Derby Association” since our start in 2010, but on Friday, February 28th we're holding a launch party to announce our 2014 season schedule and unveil our new name: “Anchor City Rollers.”

We're also shaking up our team structure, adding a new B-level travel team, to the A-Level “Halifax Harbour Grudges.” The travel teams will take on leagues across the Atlantic region, while two house teams, the Dead Ringers, and Black Rock Bandits, will continue to compete on home turf.

Our season home opener will kick off on May 31st, at Shannon Park Arena, with a face off between Dead Ringers and Black Rock Bandits. In the meantime, we're spending the remaining months of our off-season training hard and getting ready for a busy upcoming summer. See you in May!
